Cucumber can be juiced using juice extractor. Put together with lemon juice and mint and blend.
Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.), belongs to the Cucurbitaceae family. The major bioactive elements in cucumber include vitamin C, A, B6, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, flavonoids, β-carotene, lignans and triterpenes which have the ability to act as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents.
Several other pharmacological activities have been reported with this plant
including the antiwrinkle, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, and hypolipidemic potentials.
The fruits are sweet, refrigerant, hemostatic and tonic. Because of that, traditionally cucumber is used for the wide spectrum of cure in rural and urban areas to remove general debility, for treatment of skin problems and as a cooling agent.
Study by Polytechnic Kesihatan Indonesia shows that cucumber juice could lower blood pressure in elderly. Potassium in cucumber increases the excretion of Na, lowers renin secretion, arteriolar vasodilatation, and lowers response to endogenous vasoconstrictor; while mineral magnesium is a strong vasodilatation because it is lowering contractility of vascular smooth muscle.
Cucumbers is known to have a diuretic effect since it contains a lot of water which helps reduce blood pressure.
